Most antenatal classes offer information about birth and as such they prepare your left brain. But birth often goes better if the woman goes with instinct, intuition, inate power. This is the work of the right brain. Birth Art helps the woman connect with her right brain and it is great for the emotional preparation that helps her handle whatever birth nature sends her way.
Similarly, most postanatal courses do a good job of teaching information and skills (to mum's left brain) that help to keep baby safe and comfortable. However, attending the Birth Art Cafe after baby has arrived helps with the exciting and challenging transition to motherhood. The memory of the birth, the enormity of the new responsibility and the challenge of the new role of motherhood can all be explored through the creative activities of the Birth Art Cafe.
Quite apart from all this wonderful stuff going on in the brain, attending the Birth Art Cafe Medway is a real treat. When else will the woman make a couple of hours to take time out just for herself and have a relaxing and creative time?
Women are welcome to book another place to bring along somebody with them to the Birth Art Cafe. Grandmothers are especially welcome, either as they explore their role in supporting the new family or, indeed, as they debrief from their own experiences some years ago! No mother is ever too old to do Birth Art.
